A historic icon.
Selected by the MICHELIN Guide.
The MICHELIN Guide has added the Schwarzer Adler to its “Hotel Selection”. The choice is made against 5 criteria, and the first of them is the connection to the place. You can’t get closer than Piazza Città 1 – and we’ve been there for over 500 years.
How the selection comes about
The MICHELIN Guide’s inspectors put hotels around the world through their paces.
Precise, independent, with an eye for detail. Only then do they decide which houses they’ll recommend. Every one of them is measured against 5 criteria:
- The connection to the place. Piazza Città 1. You won’t get nearer the heart of the Fugger town.
- Architecture and design. The historic fabric set the foundation. The rest we rethought.
- The service. Reception until 9 p.m., a dog bed in the studio, the activeCARD in your pigeonhole. No ceremony, everything there.
- Authenticity and character. Show, don’t tell: an inn that has been welcoming travellers since 1524 has no need to put on an act.
- The value for money. A studio instead of a room, kitchen included, breakfast on top.
A signpost pointing exactly where we were headed anyway.
Dark wood, black lines, 28 units
The MICHELIN Guide highlights what has changed at the Schwarzer Adler over the past few years: hotel rooms have become studios in their own right. Dark wood, metal, black as the base note – urban, without denying the building its age. Plus a sauna, the mountains on the doorstep, the old town all around.
